Hydro Control Cabinet

Gedawin Novo Controls designs, manufactures and markets control and protection systems for the small hydroelectric generation industry. The Hydro Control Cabinet houses the NovoTAS-630 Turbine Automation and Protection System, local operator interface as well as all the interposing relays and terminal blocks to connect to the unit field sensors and devices.

OVERVIEW

Gedawin Novo Controls Hydro Control Cabinets are available in multiple configurations by adding options to the common base cabinet. With the NovoTAS-630 Turbine Automation and Protection System installed, the hydro control cabinet offers flexibility up front and future scalability as the systems in the station evolve over time. The available options all have predetermined locations which are left unobstructed. Options can be added at any time without disturbing the original wiring and field connections.

  • Standard 19″ touchscreen operator interface provides local unit control and monitoring as well as access to unit settings, trend graphing and event logs.

  • Standard accessories include Flexitext switches, switched cabinet light, 120Vac NEMA plug, breaker status lamp indicators and Emergency Stop button.
  • Universal input power supply (85-264 VAC, 120-370 VDC) with 24 VDC output
  • All NovoTAS-630 Turbine Automation and Protection System inputs, outputs and signal connections are made available on terminal blocks or interposing relays.

Easily identifiable signal termination points and output relays coupled with the NovoTAS-630 “Commission Mode” software test feature make for rapid installation and commissioning.

The internal Ethernet LAN switch provides a single connection point for the NovoTAS-630 and other Modbus TCP enabled devices to connect to the station SCADA network.

The hydro control cabinet offers flexibility for project engineers up front as well as future scalability for owners/operators as systems in the station can evolve over time. The available cabinet options all have predetermined locations in the cabinet which are left unobstructed. Options can be added at any time without disturbing the original wiring and field connections. The configuration settings and control logic in the NovoTAS-630 can easily be changed by users in the field to add new sensors or control devices without reprogramming or wiring.

By using a standard base cabinet design with selectable configuration options, the design and manufacturing cycle time is reduced adding cost efficiencies to the project.
